Sustainable Procurement & Supply Chain Ethics

Don-Bur applies sustainable procurement principles across its supply chain to ensure that purchased materials and services meet defined environmental, ethical and legal standards. Responsibility extends beyond our own operations. Suppliers and partners are expected to meet the same level of accountability.

All suppliers are assessed through a structured qualification process supported by documented policies and procedures. These controls address sustainability performance, ethical conduct, traceability and compliance with applicable legislation, including the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) where relevant.

Suppliers are expected to align with our Code of Conduct and related policies covering ethics, labour standards and environmental management.

This approach promotes transparency, fair working conditions and responsible environmental practices throughout the supply chain. The documents in the related links section set out the standards we apply, the behaviours we expect, and the processes used to select, manage and review suppliers.

Supplier qualification and onboarding process

All new suppliers are subject to a structured assessment before approval. The objective is to confirm legal compliance, ethical conduct, environmental responsibility and the capability to meet Don-Bur's quality and delivery requirements.

Qualification typically includes a review of:

  • company identity and legal status
  • financial stability and trading history
  • quality management systems and manufacturing capability
  • environmental policies and controls
  • labour standards, working conditions and modern slavery risk
  • traceability of materials and source of supply where relevant
  • compliance with applicable regulations, including EUDR where required

Suppliers may be asked to complete self-assessment questionnaires and provide supporting documentation such as policy statements, certifications or declarations. Higher-risk suppliers or critical components may be subject to additional review or audit.

Only suppliers that meet these minimum standards are approved for use. Performance is then monitored through ongoing quality, delivery and compliance metrics, with re-assessment where issues or risks are identified.

Monitoring, performance and corrective action

Supplier performance is reviewed throughout the relationship to ensure continued compliance with Don-Bur requirements. Monitoring may include quality performance data, delivery reliability, incident reporting and adherence to agreed ethical and environmental standards.

Where non-conformances or risks are identified, corrective actions are agreed with the supplier and tracked to completion. Actions may include process improvements, additional controls or further evidence of compliance. Persistent or serious breaches may result in suspension or removal from the approved supplier list.

This ongoing oversight supports continuous improvement across the supply chain and helps reduce operational, environmental and reputational risk.
