Chock rails are fitted to commercial vehicle bodies to perform two practical functions. Sometimes referred to as side raves, they primarily provide a robust physical stop that helps prevent loads on curtainsiders from sliding beyond the edge of the floor area. They are also commonly used on brewery vehicles, where they provide a tipping point over which barrels can be safely manoeuvred during handling.
Two common chock rail profiles are available: steel sheet and half round. Both perform the same fundamental functions but differ in profile to suit particular operational requirements.
Steel Sheet Chock Rail
A steel sheet chock rail provides a durable, upright retaining face that helps resist load movement towards the body side. Its simple, robust construction makes it suitable for a wide range of commercial vehicle applications where a physical edge restraint is required.
Half Round Chock Rail
The half round chock rail performs the same primary functions as the steel sheet design while offering a rounded profile. This shape is particularly suited to applications such as brewery vehicles, where barrels are regularly tipped over the rail during loading and unloading.
