New Solar Panel Installation at the Don-Bur HO

Don-Bur Invests £700k in Major Solar & Manufacturing Upgrade

Don-Bur has completed a major £700,000 investment at its Mossfield Road manufacturing headquarters, combining roof replacement, structural modernisation and a significant expansion of its rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) installation. Fully commissioned on Thursday 9th July 2026, the completed 579kW solar array is expected to generate around 30% of the headquarters' annual electricity requirement on site, reducing grid electricity-related emissions by approximately 98 tonnes of CO₂e each year.

The works cover three large manufacturing and assembly bays at the company's main Stoke-on-Trent site, creating a stronger foundation for long-term sustainable production.

“Continued investment in our infrastructure is an important part of Don-Bur’s long-term approach. This project marks another meaningful step towards improving the sustainability of our operations, both now and for the years ahead.”

David Burton, Managing Director, Don-Bur (Bodies & Trailers) Ltd

Investment in Infrastructure and Renewable Energy

The project brings together practical site improvement with measurable environmental benefit. By investing in the fabric of its manufacturing headquarters and expanding its solar PV capacity, Don-Bur has strengthened key operational infrastructure while reducing future reliance on imported grid electricity.

The rooftop solar PV installation now has a total installed generating capacity of 579kW. Based on indicative performance estimates, the system is expected to generate around 560MWh of renewable electricity each year.

Surplus renewable energy can also be exported back to the National Grid whenever generation exceeds on-site demand, ensuring that the system continues to make productive use of available solar energy.

Supporting Long-Term Sustainability

Based on indicative generation estimates, the installation has the potential to reduce grid electricity-related emissions by approximately 98 tonnes of CO₂e each year.

Following commissioning, Don-Bur will continue to monitor generation and consumption data to better understand the long-term contribution the system makes towards renewable energy generation, operational efficiency and environmental performance.
