Sunlight Aims To Save 10% With Teardrop Trailer

The healthcare division of laundry services company Sunlight has just taken delivery of its first Teardrop™ Trailer.
Sunlight group logistics manager Jonathan Phippen says "Not only do we have to employ strict environmental policies, but our customers also expect to see us employing them. So this new trailer design, with its claimed 10% fuel savings, is the perfect way to reinforce our green credentials."
The 13.5-metre Don-Bur Teardrop™ Trailer has been supplied by Ryder, as part of its 200-vehicle contract hire.
Phippen adds that the company has reduced the maximum speed of all vehicles from 56mph to 52mph, which, he estimates, will reduce fuel consumption by 5%.
Furthermore, after conducting a study of the rolling cages used to load product onto trucks, the company is specifying all new trucks with bodies reduced by six inches in height with no loss of load capacity. This will further reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
