What are the Maximum Axle Bogie Weights permitted in the UK?

Maximum permissible plated bogie weights depend on the number of axles and the limits of the axle itself.

Axles are commonly rated at 9,000kgs but this cannot be used as a guide as axle types vary.

• 3 axles - 8,000kgs limit per axle - maximum 24,000kgs on bogie
• 2 axles - 9,000kgs limit per axle - maximum 18,000kgs on bogie
• 1 axle - 10,000kgs limit per axle - maximum 10,000kgs on bogie
