Flap and valance is a method of spray suppression that uses spray suppression material fitted to the sides of a trailer just above the wheels (the valance), together with spray suppression flaps fitted behind the wheels.
If the gap between each wheel in an axle set is less than 250mm, only one flap behind the rearmost axle is required.
Where specified, flap and valance systems typically replace conventional mudflaps.
