The side rave of an HGV trailer is a structural member that runs along the outer edges of the chassis on both sides. It forms part of the main trailer frame and adds strength and rigidity to the overall structure.
On curtainsiders, the side rave sits flush with the trailer floor and serves as an anchor point for curtain buckles, which wrap underneath it to apply tension. The curtain overlaps the rave for weather protection and aesthetics. It also provides a mounting location for transverse load restraint systems such as cross-straps or nets.
On box vans, the side rave acts as a mounting point for the lower edge of the side panels, forming a strong interface between the chassis and the body structure.
