A lifting roof system allows the roof of a curtainsider to be temporarily raised during loading. This enables tall loads to be handled through the side aperture without increasing the vehicle's overall travelling height.
Where the side opening of a curtainsider has already reached its maximum practical height, raising the roof provides additional clearance for loading. After loading is complete, the roof is lowered again so the load sits beneath the roof sticks and the vehicle returns to its normal operating height.
The system uses vertically extending support pillars along the sides of the body. When activated, these pillars lift the roof structure upward in a controlled manner.
By increasing the available side loading height, the lifting roof system helps prevent contact between tall loads and the cant rail or pelmet during loading. Once the load is positioned, the roof can be lowered to utilise the available space beneath the roof sticks.
