Don-Bur Offers Virtual Reality

news/innovation

Particularly with new vehicle types, developing and refining a trailer or rigid bodywork specification requires careful consideration.  Wouldn't it be convenient if you inspect the final product before we start cutting and welding metal?  Wouldn't it be handy if you can stand inside a trailer to assess every aspect before we order materials?  Virtual Reality (VR) can do just that and Don-Bur are now offering this service.

Don-Bur has been working with 3D files for some time.  Solidworks 3D engineering was the first step back in 1997.  Next was the ability to produce photo-realistic 2D visuals for livery assessment which was quickly followed by the leap forward to interactive 3D models on the donbur.co.uk website.  Virtual Reality was the next obvious step.

The technology required has been becoming mainstream right under our noses and it's likely that the iPhone or Android mobile sitting in your pocket is very capable or providing you with a perfectly acceptable immersive VR experience with a sub-£10 VR headset from Amazon.  With the right app, you can use the high resolution stereoscopic 3D 360 VR image attached and suddenly be transported to our virtual showroom gaping up at a 4.9m high Lifting Deck Trailer.

There are many benefis; checking how the livery will look, seeing how the rearframe will match up to a virtual bay, exploring possibilities for the positions of hazard stickers or just visually checking the physical result of a specification - all designed to ensure that the final manufactured product meets every expectation.
