There are three main types of landing leg feet used on HGV trailers, each designed for different operational needs and ground conditions:
1. Wheeled Landing Legs
These feature small wheels at the base of the landing leg to allow the trailer front to roll slightly when coupling or uncoupling. They're commonly found on lighter trailers or dollies where precise height alignment isn't guaranteed.
2. Flat Foot
This is a simple, solid metal pad that provides a stable contact point with the ground. Flat feet are widely used for general applications where the trailer remains static and the surface is relatively even and hard.
3. Compensating Rocker Foot
These feet pivot to compensate for uneven terrain, improving stability when parked on rough or sloped ground. The rocker design allows the foot to tilt slightly, keeping more surface area in contact with the ground.
Each type of foot has pros and cons depending on the trailer application and site conditions. Flat feet are strong and reliable, wheeled feet aid in movement, and rocker feet provide the best adaptability on varied terrain.
