HGV Suzie Couplings

Can I make sure that HGV drivers couple up correctly?

faqs -> coupling

Best practice is already in place for coupling and uncoupling procedures (see related content links at the base of this page) but it has always been a challenge for operators to enforce.

Don-Bur has invented and developed various trailer design enhancements to encourage improved coupling practices, including what is arguably one of the most important connections; the ISO 7638 line (EBS line).

EBS-Safe - A simple warning light positioned in the drivers eyeline on the front offside front pillar.  A 90 dB siren also activates when the ISO 7638 line is not providing power.

EBS-Safe+ - An enhanced version of the EBS-Safe system with an additional brake interlock that doesn't release until the trailer ECU is receiving power.

Leg-Safe - A system to encourage drivers to lower the landing legs correctly before de-coupling and thus preventing "dropped" trailers.
