Hgv Suzie Couplings

How can I ensure HGV drivers couple up correctly?

While best-practice procedures for coupling and uncoupling are widely known (see related content links below), ensuring drivers consistently follow them has always been a challenge for operators.

To help promote correct and safe coupling, Don-Bur has developed a range of intelligent trailer enhancements — particularly focused on one of the most critical connections: the ISO 7638 (EBS power) line.

EBS-Safe – A visual warning light positioned in the driver's eyeline on the front offside pillar. A 90 dB siren also sounds if the ISO 7638 connection is not providing power.

EBS-Safe Braked – A more advanced version that incorporates a brake interlock. The system physically prevents brake release until the trailer ECU is receiving power via the ISO 7638 line.

Leg-Safe – A system designed to encourage correct deployment of landing legs before uncoupling, helping to prevent “dropped trailer” incidents.
